Meet our new Director of Bands!

I am honored to announce that our new Director of Bands has been selected. With great enthusiasm, I introduce Mr. Jesus Torres. I have had the privilege of communicating with Mr. Torres over the last few days. I am very impressed with his positive attitude and eagerness to get started. He is very excited to meet all of you. I have been asked to forward this message on his behalf while he awaits the issuance of his district e-mail address.

La Shell D. Bartholow, Booster President

Dear EVPB Family,

I write to you with great joy and pride with the news that I have been selected to serve as your new band director!!  The East View Patriot Band and Georgetown ISD bands have outstanding reputations and longstanding traditions of excellence and I am honored to join you as we add to that tradition for many years to come.  I grew up in Austin and attended The University of Texas.  I previously taught in Lockhart for three years and at Anderson High School in Austin for the past eight years.

I have been around some great bands and teachers in my time and I know that I am ready for this next challenge.  I want you to expect a lot out of me and I want you to know that I will give you everything that I have to give.  I am looking forward to the work that lies ahead and eager to see how far we can go.

I would like to invite you to stop by the band hall on Thursday evening (June 18) from 5:00-7:00 to meet me if you would like.  My wife Marie and I will be there to say, “Hello,” and meet anyone who can make it.  Nothing official or fancy, just an opportunity for you to put a face with my letter.  Please come by if you can, we are so excited to meet you all!

With Love of Music Always,

Jesus Torres
Director of Bands
East View High School
